Artist Statement

Artist Statement (Working)

This collection of works focuses on the dangers of misinformation spread throughout society and exaggerated by media outlets. In the wake of constant media coverage lately and the birth of "fake news" several minority groups have been the target of increased scrutiny, especially in comparison to the past few years. In spite of my more liberal alignment, I've decided to present about these issues in my art in a way that is less direct by giving a strong focus to animals that are widely misunderstood due to the rhetoric of media. I believe in a societal environment of great aggression and separation that an art piece that doesn't appear to be political at a surface level may invite an audience to be more willing to cognitively participate with the piece and discover the deeper meaning for themselves.
